Note, most of these are family events and parents are responsible for their children during these activities. (Read the notices carefully).
1st Helensburgh family camp
During the year we have several social, family events. Perhaps the biggest is the annual family camp. You will need to check the section programme and watch the website for updates for information on location and dates.
The annual camp is normally held within an hour or two of Helensburgh and has accommodation for those that don’t have camping equipment. Arrangements can be made if no accommodation is available so you can borrow camping equipment just let your leaders know.
It’s a great time to get to know the other families in a very relaxed and informal atmosphere, and we encourage all families to attend this weekend. 2011 was held in March at Kiama with a day out at Jamberoo Recreation Park and a relaxing day walking around to the mini blowhole where the young and older “kids” had a ball. It was a great weekend and next year’s planning has already started.
Family BBQ nights
These are held at the end of each term and run by a different section each time. They are great nights of fun and celebration as the whole group gets together and embraces Scouting. There is a party atmosphere too as we fire up the BBQs and each family brings a salad or dessert to share and a chance to meet up share stories and ideas. A note will be posted on the website before the event with date / time and what to bring. It will also be listed on the section program.
